Upon your arrival in Calvi, your gaze will be amazed by the Citadel, symbol of the wealth of the past under Genoese domination of the city. The Genoese Citadel is the main part of the town and its most important historical monument. It was a military outpost in the 15th century that helped guard the city against international attacks. The citadel sits high above Calvi port from where it towers over the sea. From up here you get some great views of the coast and harbour.

Calvi is a mixt of a colourful array of buildings, cobbled streets climbing up to the citadel, harbourside cafés and a pine-fringed crescent of silver sand. To reach this historic site, you will have to take paved streets through the famous Saint Jean-Baptiste Cathedral. As you walk up the ramparts, you will enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the entire city. Like a setting on the water, it looks out over the snowy mountains of Monte Grossu that reflect their shadow on the Mediterranean.

Quai Landry links the marina and the port, populated by bustling bars and cafés, this is the best place to get a feel for the town and watch the world go by. Past the promenade, a glorious pine forest – la Pinède – stretches along the six kilometres of gently shelving beach bordering Calvi bay, underlining the frontier between land and sea.

Calvi and his port are located in the Balagne region of north-west Corsica. This region is a contrasting land, it consists of a coastal part and a hinterland with hills overlooking the sea. It has an exceptional cultural and natural heritage. You will find picturesque views of the coast and there are many enjoyable places to spend time both in Calvi itself and the surrounding region.

In Calvi most social activity takes place at Quai Landry. This is a beachside walkway which connects the port to the marina and offers restaurants, bars, cafés, side shops and hotels. Popular activities include windsurfing, waterskiing, jet skiing and paragliding.
